Making Sense of your Scents

Every scent has a different level of scent throw depending on the oil composition (though each has the same amount of scent put into it in the production process). In general, a tablespoon of Pink Zebra Sprinkles lasts approximately 40 hours. This variation depends on how long one use is, one hour versus six hours for example. Other factors if the scent seems to not last or be as strong include changes in humidity and weather.

During the colder months of the year (or those days you have the air conditioning on in your house), scent throw (how a scent spreads through a room) is affected by cooler temperatures and dry air. Scent disperses through heat, which is impacted by cold weather. Scent is carried in the air by moisture (water molecules). In the cooler months, the air is dry, leaving less moisture to carry the scent.

Each individual scent is compiled of high notes, middle notes and low notes. When you first put scented Sprinkles into your warmer, the high notes (which smell the strongest) flash off first. As you continue to warm the beads, you smell the middle and low notes. This is also the reason why the melts seem like they do not smell as strong as they did when you first put them into the warmer.

Certain scents smell stronger than others. For example a citrus scent will smell stronger than a musk scent. It is good to keep in mind that each person has a different sense of smell too. A scent may smell stronger to one person than it does to the other. If you are around one scent a lot in your home, you become more immune to the smell and it does not smell as strong to you as it may to the next person.

Lastly, the size of the room that the warmer is in can be a factor as well. If it is in a very large room, or in a room with a ceiling fan or a door that opens to the outside a lot, this can contribute to the scent not smelling as strong. If this is the case with a certain scent, I would suggest transferring it in to a smaller room like your bathroom or office space. Scent throw depends on many factors, especially the type of scent and the usage of your warmer.
